The Current Above

Immersion Seven

A single, 79-minute steady-state piece designed for infinite low-volume playback.

The seventh chapter of the long-form Immersion series Steve began in the mid-2000s: slowly unfolding cascades of shimmering texture and diaphanous atmosphere — a soundworld to live inside while reading, working, sleeping, or simply being still.

Live

Two hours of sound and light, created live.

Cathedrals, desert stages, and open skies — each concert built for the place it happens in, created and mixed by Steve from the stage, with nothing added afterward.

The culmination of the last seven years of shows in large cathedrals across the USA.On La Rosa – Live in Tucson

Live

Over 180 works,
in layers.

Every year since 1983 is a layer here, as thick as the number of records Steve made that year, colored by their covers. The surface is today.

The artist

A feeling born from my immersion in the quiet spaces of the desert environment of my roots.

Steve Roach began in the golden age of analog synthesis and never stopped moving. Structures From Silence (1984) helped define American ambient music; Dreamtime Return (1988) all but founded tribal ambient. Over 180 releases later, working from his Timehouse studio in the Arizona desert, he is making the most focused music of his life — and playing it, live, for the people who have followed him the whole way.
