A Deeper Silence
by Bert Strolenberg, Sonic Immersion
May 2008

Steve Roach continues his quest into the deep end of the soundcurrent, and has come up with A DEEPER SILENCE.

Reflecting back on his beautiful '84 classic recording STRUCTURES FROM SILENCE, it's a continuous playback recording of almost 74 minutes, about which Steve says it's "minimal and infinite in its essence, like all of my long-form zones".

But this time, the sonic journey definitely goes much deeper inward, roaming in carefully molded darker, mysterious and dense atmospherics which float and shapeshift in freeform spaces.

Listening to this album actually feels like an ongoing search for the silence embedded deep inside oneself. It's an experience that's beyond words, something that you have to experience with your very own senses.

This new long-form zone billows out like a big sigh of time, breathing steady and strong. Minimal and infinite in its essence, like all of Steve's long-form zones this is a functional soundworld specifically created to enhance the atmosphere of your personal sanctuary, your living environment and beyond. Lower volume playback increases the potency. This sound space serves as a kind of portal to states of subtle awareness, and is perfect for the support of deeper sleeping as well.
