Ritual Ground by Darren Bergstein, Muze On this engrossing third time at bat, Elmar Schulte (aka Solitaire) finds the perfect co-pilot in mentor Steve Roach, Schulte's influence of choice. SOLITAIRE: RITUAL GROUND is excellent, awe-inspiring stuff, as the entire album's atmosphere fastidiously recalls most of Roach's own work (ORIGINS, et al), so those predisposed to the enjoyment of all things Roach should find nonstop pleasure here, Don't fret, though – Schulte's prowess amongst the electronic labyrinth compliments Roach's perfectly (for ample evidence, tune in to the post-hypnotic matrix of "Turning World" or the paleolithic ambient hues of "North Sky"), as the two devise enough vivid and compelling sound fabrics to yield total sonic double indemnity. Rapturous.
