NOW was the first full album release from Steve Roach. Originally self-produced and released on cassette in 1982, the music shows Steve's early inspiration from the Berlin School of Synthesizer Music; Tangerine Dream and Klaus Schulze in particular. While these roots are heard here, his personal voice and imagination is on full display. Reviews at the time called NOW an "auspicious debut" and later appraisals consider it well ahead of its time. Recorded almost entirely in real-time, there is an urgent and vital current running inside all these pieces. If you ask Steve about this music and the time it was created, it's direct and telling to the music: "Nothing else mattered".

The prestigious Austrian Label VOD has released NOW as part of its American Cassette Culture Box set of over 13 LP'S. We have only 50 of these LP's, available while supply lasts.

Also included on this LP is a recently-discovered beautiful mid-tempo sequencer piece "Emotion Revealed", clocking in at 22 minutes. This LP is nearly 28 minutes per side, just like the days of full 30-minute sides from Klaus Schulze and others! "Emotion Revealed" will also be released on CD in January on Projekt, along with another recently found long-form piece from 1983, Steve's first long-form deep ambient track.

This double CD presents selected pieces from Steve Roach's large body of work on the Fortuna Records label. Carefully selected and sequenced by the artist himself, and remasterd by Roger King, Disc 1 presents the rhythmic-electro-tribal-trance side of his work in nearly chronological order, starting with "The Ritual Continues" from 1982 and winding down with a previously unreleased live montage from 1997.

Disc 2 presents an overview from the vast atmospheric soundworlds that only Steve can brew up. A stirring, spiraling, unreleased archive piece closes the second disk in a subtle yet profound way, illustrating why this influential artist continues to inspire listeners worldwide.

Steve's first two releases on one CD. European influenced sequencer music (i.e. Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze) is balanced with early tribal-atmospheric pieces that suggested what was to come.
